Privacy policy

StudyWiz is a learning service for students in grades 6 to 8. Accounts are created and managed by a parent or guardian. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Our children’s privacy notice gives extra detail about information from kids.

What we collect

• From parents: email address, an optional first name, a hashed parent PIN, your consent record (date, time and policy version), and your purchase history.
• About each kid, entered by the parent: a nickname, grade and avatar choice.
• From kids while learning: homework questions and writing they submit, practice answers, scores, XP, streaks and badges.
• Homework photos are sent to our AI provider to read the problem and are not stored by us.
• Technical data: IP address and basic request logs, used for security, abuse prevention and to keep the service running.

We do not collect kids’ real names, email addresses, phone numbers, home addresses, school names, photos of people, precise location or contacts.

How we use it

• To provide homework help, practice, writing feedback and progress tracking.
• To show parents their kids’ activity and safety flags.
• To process purchases, prevent fraud and abuse, and keep accounts secure.
• To answer support requests.

We do not show ads, sell or rent personal information, or build advertising profiles. We do not use cookies or trackers for advertising or analytics.

To know how StudyWiz is doing, our own server keeps daily totals, such as how many visits, sign-ups and practice quizzes there were and which website a visitor came from. These totals contain no names, emails, IP addresses or account details, and no cookies are used for them.

Who we share it with

Only with service providers who help us run StudyWiz, under contracts that limit their use of the data:

• Google Cloud and Firebase host our servers, database and sign-in.
• Google Gemini API (paid service) generates tutoring responses. Under its paid terms, content is not used to train Google’s models.
• Dodo Payments is our merchant of record and processes payments. It receives the parent’s email and payment details, never kids’ information.

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of a child or others.

How long we keep it

• Homework questions, answers, practice sets and activity history: deleted automatically after 90 days.
• Profile, progress and badges: kept while the account is open.
• Purchase records: kept as long as needed for tax and accounting.
• When you delete a kid’s profile or your account, we delete the related data right away from our live systems and from backups within 30 days.

Your choices

In the parent area you can review all activity, download all your family’s data, pause or delete any kid’s profile, turn purchases off, and delete your account. You can also email us to make any of these requests.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Only our servers can read or write the database, every request is checked against the signed-in account, and access is limited to people who need it. We maintain a written information security program and review it at least once a year.

Changes

If we make a material change to how we handle kids’ information, we will ask parents for consent again before applying it.
