Parent Safety Center
By the StudyWiz teamUpdated October 22, 2026How we write our pages
At a glance
- A parent creates the account and gives consent before any kid can use StudyWiz.
- Kids use a nickname. We never ask for their real name, email, school, photo or location.
- No ads, no selling of data, and no advertising or analytics trackers.
- No chat with other users and no public profiles.
- Wiz is built to help only with schoolwork, and you get a flag if a message suggests your kid may be upset or unsafe.
- Homework photos are sent to our AI provider to read the problem, and StudyWiz doesn’t store them.
- Questions and activity are deleted automatically after 90 days.
- You can download or delete your family’s data at any time.
How consent works
A kid can’t sign up for StudyWiz. You create the account, verify your email, confirm that you’re an adult and the kid’s parent or guardian, and give consent. Only then can you add up to 4 kids, each with a nickname, a grade and an avatar.
You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting a kid’s profile or your whole account. In the US, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) requires a parent’s consent before an app collects personal information from kids under 13. StudyWiz asks for it for every learner, whatever their age.
What we collect, and what we don’t
- From you: your email address, an optional first name, your parent PIN (stored only in scrambled, hashed form), your consent record and your purchase history.
- About each kid, entered by you: a nickname, grade and avatar.
- While kids learn: the homework questions and writing they submit, practice answers, scores, XP, streaks and badges.
- Technical data: IP address and basic request logs, used to keep StudyWiz secure, prevent abuse and count visits.
We don’t collect kids’ real names, email addresses, phone numbers, home addresses, school names, photos of people, precise location or contacts.
What Wiz will and won’t do
- Wiz is instructed to help only with school learning. If a kid asks for something off-topic or unsafe, it gives a short, friendly nudge back to schoolwork.
- Wiz is instructed never to ask for personal details, and to remind kids not to share personal information online if they do.
- Wiz is instructed to ignore attempts to change its rules, such as “pretend you’re someone else”.
- If a kid writes something suggesting they might hurt themselves, are being hurt or are in danger, Wiz is instructed to gently encourage them to talk to a parent, teacher or another trusted adult right away, and to mention that in the US they can call or text 988 at any time. You see a safety flag in your dashboard. We don’t store the content of flagged messages.
What you see and control
- Each kid’s recent homework questions, practice scores and writing reviews in your parent dashboard, with their strong and weak topics and any safety flags.
- A parent PIN that protects purchases and settings, a monthly spending limit for credit packs, and a switch that turns purchases off.
- Pause or delete any kid’s profile, download all your family’s data, or delete your account. The download has everything from the last 90 days, including your kid’s exact questions.
Kids never see prices or a buy button. When the free turns for the day run out, Wiz tells them to ask a parent or come back tomorrow. The eggs and magic pets in the game can’t be bought: after a free starter egg, kids earn them by learning. There is nothing to buy in the kids’ part of the app.
AI and your kid’s data
- Wiz runs on a commercial AI model through a paid service whose terms don’t allow what kids send to be used to train the provider’s models. Our privacy policy names the provider.
- We don’t use your kid’s work to train AI either, and we never sell it or use it for advertising.
- Google Cloud and Firebase host our servers, database and sign-in.
- Dodo Payments, our merchant of record, processes payments. It receives the parent’s email and payment details, never kids’ information.
How long we keep things
- Homework questions, answers, practice sets and activity history: deleted automatically after 90 days.
- Profile, progress and badges: kept while the account is open.
- When you delete a kid’s profile or your account, the data is deleted right away from our live systems, and from backups within 30 days.
- Purchase records: kept as long as needed for tax and accounting.
Questions to ask about any AI app for kids
Whatever you choose for your family, these questions are worth asking:
- Who creates the account, the parent or the kid?
- What does it collect from kids, and how long does it keep it?
- Does it show ads or use advertising trackers?
- Can kids chat with strangers or have a public profile?
- Is kids’ work used to train AI models?
- What happens if a kid writes something worrying?
- Can you see what your kid asks, and delete all of it?
For StudyWiz, the answers are on this page. Our children’s privacy notice and privacy policy have every detail.
